Goofling is a mobile game made in South Africa ("Goofling", "we", "us"). This policy explains what the app and our servers collect, why, and the choices you have. You don't need an account to play, and we never ask for your name, email address, phone number or precise location.
| Data | Why | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| A random player ID and a secret created on your device | To save your online scores and challenges and to make sure only your device can change them | Our servers only (the secret is stored as a one-way hash) |
| Your generated player name (for example "Bouncy Mango 42") and blob colour | Shown next to your scores | Public: leaderboards, versus games and challenge links |
| Your best scores per level (flicks, stars, levels cleared) | Leaderboards, world champions and challenges | Public on leaderboards |
| Your country, worked out from your internet connection (we don't store your IP address with it) | Local leaderboards and the free city world for your country | Public as a flag next to your name |
| IP address | Security and abuse prevention (rate limiting) | Our hosting provider, briefly, in routine logs |
| Purchases | To deliver and restore what you buy | Apple or Google and RevenueCat (anonymous ID) |
| Advertising data: an advertising/device identifier, approximate location, ad interactions, crash and performance data | To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud | Google (AdMob) |
Your game progress, coins and settings stay on your device.
Goofling shows ads from Google AdMob. Where the law requires it we ask for your consent first, and on iPhone we ask for permission before any tracking. If you say no you still get ads, but they won't be personalised. You can change your ad choices any time in Settings → Privacy choices, and on iPhone in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Google's use of data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We use Cloudflare (hosting and storage of game data), RevenueCat (purchase processing), Apple and Google (app stores and payments) and Google AdMob (ads). They process data for us under their own terms and privacy policies. Data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union.
You can delete everything we hold about you at any time: Settings → Delete my online data. That removes your scores, leaderboard entries and challenges from our servers and gives your device a fresh identity. You keep your progress on the device. You can also email privacy@goofling.com to ask what we hold, correct it, delete it or object to how we use it. You have rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (South Africa), the GDPR (EU and UK) and similar laws, including the right to complain to your data protection authority (in South Africa, the Information Regulator).
Goofling is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. Player names are generated by the game, so nobody can type personal details into a public name. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). The device secret is never stored in readable form, and player IDs are never shown publicly.
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app.
